Their Mission/Purpose:

L – Leadership: Deploying and developing this skill to fulfill a collective community vision. E – Engagement: Impactful discussion and connecting members with community leaders. A – Access: Provide council members with a variety of insight into community needs/issues. D – Direction: Utilizing resources and knowledge to help generate meaningful work. The Northern New York Community Foundation believes in inspiring young professionals to be philanthropic in the communities where they live, work, and play. The LEAD Council is entrusted to be a progressive grantmaker, active volunteers, and an overall difference-maker in the region.

Criteria & Term Length:

Responsibilities and expectations - Be the strategic grantmaking arm of the Community Foundation. - Active participation in to help address needs in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. - Serve as a responsible council member of the Foundation and community. - As a component of personal philanthropy, we respectfully ask each member to make a contribution of any size to the "Friends of the Community Foundation Community Betterment Fund." Commitment - Monthly meetings – 2nd Monday of each month (4:30 - 5:30 p.m.). - LEAD may take off one or two months from meetings, depending on activities. - Expectation is that members attend at least a quarter of the monthly meetings each year.

The Lewis County Emerging Professionals network was established to attract and retain professionals by enhancing the social, professional, and community outreach opportunities available to emerging professionals within Lewis County and to increase the opportunity for communication, shared knowledge and interaction between those individuals, uniting them in a common cause to promote community development and service.
